Finsetter's core belief is simple: the best gift a parent can give their child is not just love — it is a financial head-start. Since 2012, founder Mahipal Katha has helped 5,000+ families across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and the Telugu NRI diaspora start SIPs for their children, secure their families with the right insurance, and build generational wealth through patient, disciplined investing.
Two pillars that define every decision we make and every relationship we build.
To educate parents across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and the Telugu NRI community about the transformative power of starting early — so that every child grows up with a financial foundation their parents deliberately built for them. A ₹3,000/month SIP started at a child's birth becomes approximately ₹1.5 crore by the time they turn 25. Most parents do not know this. Finsetter's job is to make sure they do — in plain language, without jargon, and without commission-driven bias.
A Telugu household where every parent — whether they earn ₹20,000 or ₹2 lakh per month — has a running SIP in their child's name, a family health floater that covers a medical emergency without wiping out savings, and a term plan that keeps the child's future safe if the parent is no longer there. We want to be the most trusted financial educator for the next generation of Telugu families — in Hyderabad, across both states, and wherever the community has settled abroad.
Thirteen years of consistent growth from a single office in Hyderabad — built entirely on referrals and results.
Mahipal Katha started Finsetter in Hyderabad with a single goal: give families in Telangana the same quality of insurance and investment advice available to clients in larger metros — at a fair price, with no hidden agenda.
Obtained the IRDAI agent licence (Code 5854206), enabling Finsetter to advise across all insurance categories — health, life, motor, home, and travel — under one roof rather than directing clients to multiple intermediaries.
Registered as a SEBI Investment Adviser (Reg. E667968) and obtained AMFI ARN 352636 via the Prudent platform. Finsetter could now manage the full financial picture — insurance protection and long-term wealth creation — in a single, regulated practice.
Launched structured NRI financial services — online portfolio management, India-based insurance for NRI parents, and repatriation-ready mutual fund investments. Clients from the US, UK, UAE, Australia, and Singapore now manage Indian finances through Finsetter without a single in-person visit.
Crossed 5,000 active clients across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Added Will Writing services — the most requested gap in the Finsetter offering — giving clients a single point of contact for insurance, investments, and estate planning.

The idea behind Finsetter came from a recurring conversation Mahipal Katha kept having in 2010–2012 with families in Hyderabad: parents who had been working for 10–15 years, earning reasonably well, but had nothing structured set aside for their children. No SIP. No education fund. No term plan that would protect the family if the breadwinner was gone. Just a savings account and a vague intention to "start investing soon."
The problem was not a lack of desire — every parent Mahipal met wanted their child to have a better start than they did. The problem was a lack of clear, trustworthy guidance. Most distributors pushed high-commission ULIPs or endowment plans that did not serve the family's actual needs. Nobody was sitting down with a parent and saying: "Here is what ₹5,000/month invested today will become when your son is 22. Here is the term plan that costs ₹800/month and protects your family if you are not here. Here is the health policy that stops a hospital bill from erasing your savings."
Mahipal started Finsetter in 2012 to be exactly that adviser: the one who educates first and sells second. The one who explains the power of compounding to a first-time investor parent in plain Telugu, shows them the numbers, and then helps them take the first step — however small. He has always believed that the best thing you can do for a child's future is not an expensive school or a foreign degree — it is a SIP started on the day they are born, and a family protected by the right insurance while that SIP quietly grows.
Today, over 5,000 families trust Finsetter. Many of the children whose SIPs Mahipal set up in 2012–2015 are now teenagers — with a corpus already building in their name. That is what the work is actually about.

Three reasons parents in Hyderabad, Guntur, Visakhapatnam — and in Dallas, Dubai, and Melbourne — choose Finsetter to start their children's financial journey.
When a parent comes to Finsetter, the first question is never "which fund do you want?" It is: "How old are your children? What do you want life to look like for them at 18, at 25?" We reverse-engineer the investment from the goal — child's higher education, marriage, first home deposit — and then choose the right SIP amount and fund mix to get there. The product follows the plan, not the other way around.
Most parents who come to Finsetter have never invested before. They do not know what an NAV is, what a flexi-cap fund means, or the difference between a term plan and an endowment. That is fine — our job is to explain it, not to assume prior knowledge. Mahipal spends as long as needed with a first-time investor parent — in Telugu or English — until they genuinely understand what they are starting and why. An informed parent is a committed investor. A committed investor gives their child a real financial future.
SIPs set up through Finsetter are held directly with AMFI-registered fund houses via the Prudent platform — one of India's most respected mutual fund distribution networks. Your money never passes through Finsetter's accounts. The folio is in your name (or your child's name). You can view it anytime on the fund house's own portal. Finsetter's role is guidance, selection, and service — not custody. Your child's future savings are as safe as the regulated financial system of India makes them.
You do not need to have it all figured out. Start with one question: "What do I want for my child at age 22?" Bring that to a 30-minute call with Mahipal — and leave with a plan. Whether you are in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, or based abroad.
